Garden Grove Garden update
Our garden has continued this year. We are a member of the Polk County School & Community Garden Association. One of the benefits is they provide Organic Fertilizer, soil, seeds, transplants, and other garden supplies. As well as expert-led learning opportunities.
We began with students germinating the seeds and preparing the soil for planting.
We planted Bush green beans and harvested over 2 lbs. Students taste tested the green beans when coming thru the lunch line for their lunches. We are a member of Fresh from Florida harvest of the month with Florida Dept. of Agriculture. Ms. Valdez class did the math worksheet with green beans harvested from the garden to learn angles.
Students planted Romaine lettuce seeds in cups in the gardens wood pallets harvesting over 4 lbs.
Students planted taste tested and completed Fresh from Florida harvest of the month radish worksheet using the radishes they harvested from the garden.
We continue to harvest buckets from our garden. Volunteers are welcome
Our Students love working in the Garden and eating the Veg.
